“There's so much more to who you are than you know right now. You are, indeed, something mysterious and someone magnificent. You hold within you — secreted for safekeeping in your heart — a great gift for this world. Although you might sometimes feel like a cog in a huge machine, that you don't really matter in the great scheme of things, the truth is that you are fully eligible for a meaningful life, a mystical life, a life of the greatest fulfillment and service...”

~ Bill Plotkin

Comparison, as the saying goes, is the death of joy — and in the age of the endless scroll and the obligatory selfie, never has the pursuit of true happiness been more arduous.

When we’re constantly looking outside of ourselves to assess what we “should” be doing — the career we choose, the clothes we wear, the partner we select — event the Insta-worthy vacay we book — our lives become the product of an external focus of control, rather than the manifestation of our soul’s call. And so goes the quarter or mid-life crisis!

The essence of the mid or quarter-life crisis, I’ve found, (because I’ve been there, too!) is a feeling of one’s life not being one’s own.

It’s stale, it’s inauthentic. It’s out of alignment.

The antidote, then, is to uncover the call, that still small voice within that has always whispered of your true self beneath the weight of “should’s”, the internal GPS leading to your most aligned life.
